An exclusive mode, “The Jordan Challenge”, is set to be re-introduced in NBA 23, with its previous appearance dating back to NBA 11 almost a decade ago!
Michael Jordan is arguably the best basketball player of all time, gracing the Basketball Hall of Fame amongst many other names such as Yao Ming and Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
For younger generation of players, not many know of the feats that the now 59-year old Charlotte Hornets’ owner had achieved throughout his illustrious 19-year career in the NBA.
Serving only two (2) clubs before his retirement, Jordan was a megastar playing for Chicago Bulls, changing wind at the last stretch of his playing years with Washington Wizards afterward.
There are not many players that are as dedicated as Jordan was, and that is another reason why the former Shooting Guard has managed to create memorable moments that stuck throughout the years, his team role already established instead of adapting to new life elsewhere (except trading for The Wizards near the end of his playing time).
In the upcoming NBA 23, a previous in-game mode that challenges you to recreate some of the most outstanding plays by Michael Jordan will be added into the game – “The Jordan Challenge”!
First introduced in NBA 11, the new “The Jordan Challenge” will put you inside Michael Jordan’s shoes throughout fifteen (15) different challenges, all of them during his time with Chicago Bulls.
With so many challenges to cover, let’s take a look at the first five (5) down below:
THE JORDAN CHALLENGE (PART 1)
Challenge 1:
1982 National Championship, University of North Carolina vs Georgetown University
oA rookie Michael Jordan played for North Carolina’s college basketball team, Tar Heels Men, and struck gold when the squad were losing 61-62 against Georgetown Hoyas’ Men until the last 20 seconds, making a clutch jump shot to win the game at the death.
Challenge 2:
1984 Exhibition, USA Olympic Team vs NBA All-Stars
oThe best college basketball players selected for the Olympics played a series of ‘friendly’ matches against the NBA’s All-Star team, and though fans expected humiliation, Jordan’s Olympic team humbled the All-Star squad instead, winning eight (8) straight games!
Challenge 3:
1986 Eastern Conference First Round, Chicago Bulls vs Boston Celtics (Game 2)
oIn The Bulls’ second (2nd) game of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, Jordan made a spectacular personal score of 63 points, putting in those shots and layups to carry the team even though they ultimately lost the game 131-135.
Challenge 4:
1988 NBA All-Star Game, Eastern Conference vs West Conference
oJordan was selected for the Eastern Conference team, going up against the West’s chosen professionals, and he made a massive impression by scoring the highest tally of 40 points, being awarded the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Challenge 5:
1989 Eastern Conference First Round, Chicago Bulls vs Cleveland Cavaliers (Game 5)
oA tight match between The Bulls and The Cavs, the tie went down to the wire with both teams tied at 2-2, and Jordan carried the team again in the final game, accumulating a total of 44 points out of their 101 score, winning by just 1 point!
Recreating – or even besting – Michael Jordan’s tough plays here will definitely test your in-game skills in NBA 23.
