WoW Classic has been the perfect vehicle to relive some game experiences of yesteryear: more complex mechanics but at the same time with an archaic flavor, absence of guides or indicators that make the most "genuine" adventure, places and characters that no longer exist in their original form in current WoW; in short, for many lovers of retro, it has been extremely satisfactory.
And with each new update, comes the opportunity to re-experience key moments in the game's history, such is the case with the recent arrival of Naxxramas, one of the most legendary dungeons in the game's trajectory, not only in terms of game mechanics but in what it represents within the mythology of the Warcraft universe and, coincidentally, in how it connects to Shadowlands.
If you never had a chance to experience this raid, now is a great time! Here are some of the reasons why Naxxramas is so relevant and why it might be worth giving it a try.
Number 1. Legendary and Challenging When Naxxramas arrived in World of Warcraft, the community was mentally and physically trained to face almost any challenge (after Molten Core, Onyxia, Ahn'Qiraj, etc.), but this necropolis had terrors and challenges in store that would mark even the most experienced players. With 15 boss fights whose mechanics were extremely complex for the time and the imposition of a group of 40 people, in addition to needing a perfect balance between roles and classes, surviving all the battles until facing the iconic Kel'Thuzad was a not only challenging mission, but it felt truly epic.
Number 2. No longer exists in WoW, Naxxramas was the end of an era in World of Warcraft, both in terms of dungeon design and large group combat mechanics, as it was the last raid that required 40 players. After being removed in its original form with patch 3.0.2, a revamped version with 10 and 25 person modes arrived, whose mechanics were simpler and designed to be considerably more accessible. During subsequent WoW expansions, other significant challenges kept popping up, but nothing at the level of the floating citadel of the undead.
Number 3. An epic adventure unlike today in WoW, in which you simply open a window to choose the dungeon you want to face and are automatically transferred without much formality, originally the game forced you to go physically to the doors of the dungeon and, In addition, strive to meet certain requirements: sometimes a key that is not easy to get, other times earn a good reputation with some faction and, always, in each and every case, get the necessary equipment -weapons and armor- to survive against very specific conditions. Reaching the last boss of Naxxramas was not a matter of skill, but the sum of many unforgettable experiences and adventures.
