The next-gen version of NBA 2K21 introduces The City. This is a bigger and better Neighborhood. To start with, The City has a much bigger map. It has a basketball-centered design. It looks like a modern city featuring skyscrapers, shops, stores, and lots of facilities especially designed for basketball players. Let's take a look at what you will find in The City.
Rookieville is where your adventure begins. This area has activities especially designed for starting players. Once you are done with Rookieville, you will step into The City. The Event Center hosts all the events. This is a pretty popular place as there are many events going on. The City features Boroughs which are the headquarters of the affiliations. Players asked for affiliations for a long time and the developers have listened. There are four affiliations and each one has its own borough.
Players get assigned to an affiliation after playing some games in Rookieville. You can change your affiliation but you will suffer a reputation penalty. The head of an affiliation is a Mayor. They have several responsibilities. The City is designed to be the perfect environment for basketball players. Keep an eye out for hoops as you walk the streets. You will see hoops on the side of buildings. Shoot some hoops if you feel like it and don't forget that those who pass by can join as well for a quick game.
Many NPCs live in The City. They act as quest givers. Once ever few weeks, quests will refresh so you always have new activities to complete. As the name implies, the Gatorade Training Facility allows you to improve your condition. The training center features two floors. The first floor has training equipment. The second one provides courts for rent where you can play according to your rules.
The City also features special courts such as the Kobe Bryant themed court. The Pink Diamond Plaza is where the MyTeam Triple Threat games are played. The building looks amazing and hosts a resident DJ that is in charge of the atmosphere. Basketball players love to go shopping. You have plenty of apparel stores from where you can get your favorite clothes, shoes, and accessories from famous brands such as Puma, Under Armour, Drip Brothers, Nike, Jordan Brand, and more. MyPlayer gets some updates too. For example, you can now walk while dribbling your ball.
