The Guild Wars 2 expansion was officially confirmed. It is called End of Dragons and it will take place in one of the most beloved zones of Tyria. The expansion was announced during the eighth anniversary streaming event. It is the third expansion. Players get to finally explore the region of Cantha. If you have played the first Guild Wars, you might remember that the Factions campaign took place in this zone. Arena Net revealed a 45 seconds long teaser for the End of Dragons expansion. The teaser doesn't say much, but that doesn't mean we cannot speculate.
The teaser gives us a first look at two iconic locations. We can see the Shing Jea Island and the City of Kaineng. These two locations are solid indications that Cantha is the region that will be introduced in the expansion.
Also, the teaser has an aerial point of view, suggesting that whoever is speaking to us is flying over the zone. Taking the name of the expansion and the aerial perspective into consideration, we think that the voice in the teaser belongs to a dragon. The scenes shown in the teaser are stunning. The voice tells us that this region is where humans triumphed. It also says that they have managed to defeat a great danger and start anew.
The first voice we hear is female. The next line of dialogue comes from a male voice. It seems to respond to the first speaker saying that human lives are short and a lifetime isn't that long for others. It also says that some might have forgotten what the ending is. The female seems to disagree, saying that there may be another way. It is now when we learn the name of the female. It's Kuunavang. The one who speaks to her replies that there is no other way and that he is needed.
The teaser ends with a close up of a dragon. We can surmise that we have just witnessed a dialogue between two dragons. The name of the second dragon is not revealed, but we know something about Kuunavang. She is a non-elder dragon featured in the Factions campaign. Kuunavang was benevolent towards humans until she was corrupted.
As it's always the case in MMORPGs, a good beating is what you need to drive the corruption away so in the end she became her true self again. Some suspect that the second dragon is a sea dragon. That's all we know about the End of Dragons for now.
