Guild Wars 2 players have plenty to look forward to in 2020. We are sure that some surprises are also in store but the team behind the game has revealed the plans for the first quarter of the next year.
As always, we can expect monthly updates and content. What better way to start the new year than with a holiday? The winter event may come to an end but we will celebrate the Lunar New Year shortly after. In this past, this event wasn't as big as the others but things are about to change. Starting in 2020, the Lunar New Year has more content and rewards. The prizes include a Lunar New Year themed weapon and armor set. The weapons are obtained from daily activities.
The armor is the reward for completing the event meta-achievement. Celestial Challenges are new activities available during the event. They take place in Divinity’s Reach. Players will be required to complete all sorts of tasks. Getting friendly with the celestial animals will allow you to get divine lucky envelopes at a discounted price.
The PvP system is getting an update as well. The team in charge of this aspect of the game is looking into ways of bringing more balance to competitive activities. All traits and skills are put under revision.
Good news for those who were looking forward to the Swiss tournaments. There will be some beta tests to evaluate the performance of these events when lots of players are involved. If you are one of the beta testers, you will get a title to commemorate your participation. We can expect beta tests at the start of 2020. There is no release date yet as the team wants to make sure everything is in order before going live.
The warclaw in WvW is getting updated as well. Issues like movement speed and evading will be fixed. A new mastery will replace the boosted movement speed. Its endurance will be diminished so players have more chances of dismounting it. On the PvE front, players will experience the life of a Steel Warband member. They will use charr technology to explore dwarven ruins and to discover the mystery of the Darkrime Delves. Players will have to complete certain tasks for Ryland's war band. You will get access to the latest armored vehicles that can be used as combat machines as long as you have ammo.
