Guild Wars 2 has a new season that is called Icebrood Saga. The fifth season began September 17th with a prologue chapter called Bound by Blood. The prologue contains five chapters and some of them take place in a new zone called Grothmar Valley. A new currency called Hatched Chili also came with the prologue. Players got the chance to obtain two new achievements, equipment, skins, various items, recipes, and minis. PvE Strike missions for 5 to 10 players were also introduced. But the prologue served only as an introduction for the fifth Living Worlds season.
Icebrood Saga is available starting November 19th. It comes with a story and other features. The story is all about the norn and the charr. They are fighting against Jormag. The story takes place in Far Shiverpeaks and the Blood Legion Homelands. Players will adventure into the Far Shiverpeaks and fight all sorts of monsters including the dragon Jormag. They will also discover more about the Spirits of the Wild. A new map that is located in the Far Shiverpeaks was added. Players will explore Bjora Marches. It is not a welcoming land. Blizzards and terrible monsters scare all who dare set foot here. However, the zone has a haven called Jora's Keep. Players unlock this new map after they finish the story instance from the prologue. Characters such as Efram Greetsglory, Crecia Stoneglow, and Malice Swordshadow play an important part in the story. Players will also meet the dragons Aurene and Drakkar. But there is more to this season than the story.
New masteries are available. Players will be able to obtain the raven attunement. This is connected to the Spirits of the Wild. Players get to make friends with the Spirit of the Wild named Raven. He will help them get around and also offer some protection. Essence manipulation is also part of the update. Players will acquire the essence of vigilance, resilience, and valor and use them against the enemies. The trick is to find the opponent's weaknesses and use the essences to gain an edge. Players get the chance to match skills against three formidable enemies. Fallen, Aberrant, and Svanir abominations await in strike missions. There will be a weekly strike missions rotation. To help them against these foes and many others, players get some new weapons. The ancient boreal weapons can be upgraded. Players need the latest Guild Wars 2 expansion, Path of Fire, in order to gain access to this new season.
